Yalghaar trailer launch – a star studded affair.
The trailer of much hyped (and delayed) Pakistani movie Yalghaar, was released during a star-studded event in Karachi yesterday. In fact, main reason behind the event’s population was the film’s cast itself. Directed, produced and written by Hassan Rana (writer, Waar), Pakistan’s next most awaited film Yalghaar has as much as 11 noteable actors in the cast, including Armeena Khan, Ayesha Omar, Bilal Ashraf, Gohar Rasheed, Shaan, Humayun Saeed, Sana Bucha, Sikander Rizvi, Uzma Khan, Umair Jaswal and Adnan Siddiqui.
Trust us, we have missed a few names.
Having a huge star cast can alone be a reason behind the heavy budget, but again, most of the actors have just started their career, except Shaan, Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui of course. There have been a few films with an ensemble cast, that have done well at the box office too, in the recent past, but none of them really had 11+actors in their cast.
Looking at the trend, Pakistani movies with an ensemble cast, e.g Jawani Phir Nahi Aani and Waar, have done better business at the box office, as compared to the usual love stories. If we take that in consideration, Yalghaar should definitely mint money, mainly because Waar was more or less of the same genre, and went on to become a global phenomenon. Thoughts?
Coming back to last night’s event, we would like to bring another important piece of information to your attention. As all of us are now aware, Yalghaar stars two of Lollywood’s most celebrated male superstars, Shaan and Humayun Saeed in important roles, and that alone is probably going to be a reason for many to root for the movie. Last night though, it was only Humayun Saeed who attended the trailer launch, probably because he resides in Karachi, unlike Shaan, but it just can’t be the reason. Are things getting unpleasant between the two megastars already?
Apart from Shaan, almost all of the cast members attended the event, including Armeena Khan, Ayesha Omar, Gohar Rasheed, Bilal Ashraf, among others.

Speaking about the film, Dr Hassan Rana said, “Yalghaar is a labour of intense passion, love and pain for me personally. I literally had to put my life on the line to get that one perfect shot, the reason was simple, to capture the true essence of my characters. Some people will love the film and some won’t, but one thing which I am sure is that my bosses (viewers) would not fault the efforts of my team and my actors. They have literally put their sweat and blood into it.”
Sultana Siddiqui, President HUM Network said, “HUM Network has always focused on giving the best to people and strives to improve with each presentation. The image of Pakistan plays an important role in our dramas, films and awards programmes. We have distributed many films and Yalghaar is one of best films so far, with a large number of stellar artists taking part in it, and who have all done extremely well. We are proud to be the distributor of this film. We must all strive to take our films further ahead and make it popular with the masses. This is Hassan Rana’s second film, his first one being the very popular Waar and now this mega thriller film Yalghaar. ”
