Watch: ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ trailer is full of colour & emotion.
Probably the most hyped Pakistani movie of the year, Punjab Nahi Jaongi is finally out with its theatrical trailer. The trailer was launched during a special event earlier today, well attended by the cast and other celebrities from the Pakistani movie industry.
First things first, we are totally taken by surprise after watching the trailer, specifically because there was not even a single dull/unnecessary moment in the entire thing, unlike most other trailers of recent Pakistani movies. Secondly, the quality of everything from sound to video, and clothing to sets, is A rate. Last week, trailer of another Pakistani movie was released, and even though the movie looked grand by all means, the sound still had issues with it.
Now that we are done sharing our take on the technicalities, let’s move towards the lighter things. The lead pair of the movie, Mehwish Hayat and Humayun Saeed are the biggest attraction of this movie, as a pair, thanks to their super successful past projects, television serial Dillagi, and a movie that is a case study in itself due to the crazy box office response, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani.
Interestingly enough, all 3 projects featuring the two have been directed by Nadeem Baig, and while JPNA is different, both Dillagi and PNJ seem to have something in common, including the cast. Like Dillagi, PNJ also has Saba Hameed as the mother, and even the locations seem to be resembling those of the serial. Also, Mehwish’s character was unpleasant towards Humayun’s character in the serial, which remains the same in PNJ.
Urwa Hocane is a breath of fresh air in this super colourful and emotional saga. She also has a pretty catchy dance number for us to groove to. We can’t wait to see her acting chops on the silver screen, as this is probably her first mainstream role after Namaloom Afraad, which hardly gave her margin enough to act. Ahmed Ali Butt is top notch with his one liners as always, but in a desi avatar this time. A lot of people are of the opinion that the plot seems to be a lot like Bollywood movie, Namaste London, featuring Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar. But how much is that true, only time will tell.
All in all, the trailer has definitely made our day, thanks to the deep focus on technical aspects. It is too early to comment on music, but the songs look like they’ll make place in the heart of audiences soon.
